![]() The price of this bundle is a good way to dip a toe and see if it's something you want more of. The gameplay is actually very deep if you play on higher difficulty, or you can faceroll the AI at mid-level difficulties. In theory it's very easy to just boot up, play a few turns, then go do something else, but you end up just playing more turns. The gameplay loop is fun and addictive, and you often find yourself wanting to play just a little bit more, then a little more after that. ![]() They're really good, you know you should probably stop after a bit, it's probably not great for your health and before you know it you finished the bag, or in the case of CIV games, if they're something you end up enjoying, you realize the sun just came up and there's no time to sleep before work/school. It's a little like opening up a bag of chips. ![]() But that doesn't mean downloading a cracked version off the internet isn't illegal. Morally speaking I don't see how you'd feel bad about getting a game you legally own working again because some stupid copy-protection scheme stopped being maintained and your legal copy stopped working. In practice, it's an old, out of print game, and no one's likely to pursue you for downloading a copy. A lot of DRM law is ridiculously restrictive, and I don't know if there's any exception to circumventing DRM on the basis that the DRM no longer functions as intended (because of a failure to maintain it or whatever.) There's a good chance that there isn't one, because DRM law is awful that way. And you're definitely not permitted to distribute your backup copy legally. That doesn't mean taking someone else's backup copy and calling it your own (although depending on the media, one digital backup could be functionally identical to any other copy.) For more esoteric formats like game cartridges, that means you're going to need special hardware to make your legal backup. In the US at least, you're permitted to make your own backup copy.
